During Club Hour at TABC on Tuesday, February 4, TABC alumnus Eliyah Avishur ‘22, who is currently serving in Tzahal, spoke to the yeshiva’s Israel Advocacy Club. Avishur spoke about his decision to become a chayal, which stemmed from a deep desire to protect the Jewish People and its homeland, and what it was like to enlist in the army post-October 7. Accompanied by a slideshow of pictures, Avishur told both lighthearted and heavier stories about basic training and difficult commanders and spoke movingly about his pride in his accomplishments and his current responsibilities. His biggest piece of advice to students thinking about enlisting is to really learn to speak Hebrew. Avishur returned to Israel last Motzei Shabbat and students at TABC will be davening not just for his safety, but for the safety of the dozens of TABC alumni currently serving and all those who protect Medinat Yisrael during these challenging times.
