At Wine Country’s evening of wine and whiskey at Congregation Ahavath Torah and again at Royal Wines Kosher Food and Wine Experience, I got the chance to meet Dan Wasserlauf, a Teaneck resident originally from France who is currently brand ambassador for Nadiv Winery.
Wasserlauf explained that Nadiv is a new Judean Hills vineyard and winery that specializes in new world blends that are typical of Australian winemaking; particularly with blends of cabernet sauvignon with syrah (also known as shiraz). These red blends result in easily quaffable yet full fruit blends that are great on their own or with a meal. The first vintage Nadiv made was from 2014. Nadiv has three wines currently available; all reds. The Reishit, which is priced at $20; the Matan, at $31, and its premium blend, Elyone, for $47. Whites will be available in the coming months.
“I found all the Nadivs had a very similar fruity flavor profile,” said Ezra, one of our Jewish Link tasters. “They all had a lighter viscosity and were very drinkable. I think the higher end ones would benefit from decanting in advance,” he added.
Wine Country has the full range of currently available Nadiv wines at 89 New Bridge Road in Bergenfield. For more information call 201-385-0106.
