Rabbi Dr. Avi Block, mashgiach ruchani at the high school of the Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut, and Rabbi Josh Rosenfeld, incoming Judaic studies principal at the school, will each be participating in a Pre-Pesach interactive Zoom program, “How to Get Your Children (and Grandchildren) More Involved in the Seder.”
The online program will be held on Sunday, March 21, at 8:45 p.m.
“We are delighted to be able to present two fabulous educators who are particularly skilled at connecting with youngsters,” said Michael Feldstein, co-chair of the Center for Community Education at the Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy, which is sponsoring the program. “Parents are constantly challenged by how they can make the Seder more meaningful for their kids. This session will be a practical, hands-on program that will provide many new ideas about how you can make this year’s Seder the best one you have ever had.”
Before working at the Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut, Rabbi Block worked as the assistant rabbi at the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates. Rabbi Block graduated with honors from Yeshiva College and went on to pursue graduate studies at the Bernard Revel Graduate School for Jewish Studies while studying for semicha at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. Alongside his rabbinic work, Rabbi Block has also completed a PhD in psychology from St. John’s University.
Rabbi Rosenfeld is currently the assistant rabbi at Lincoln Square Synagogue, and also serves as middle school principal at Manhattan Day School. He studied for two years in Yeshivat Hakotel, and received a BA with honors in English literature from Yeshiva University, where he was a Wilf Family Scholar, and an MS Ed. from the Azrieli Graduate School. He served as a sharpshooter in the 605th Combat Engineers in the IDF as a “lone soldier” through the Second Lebanon War. He received his semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.
