A group of Jews from Zhitomar, Ukraine visited the United States in preparation for the upcoming New Year. They first visited the resting place of the Rebbe together with their spiritual leader, Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm. Afterwards they came to Bris Avrohom’s headquarters in Hillside and had lunch with Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, executive director. They heard stories of how Rabbi Kanelsky’s family were observant Jews before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Also attending the luncheon was Leonard Posnock, former President of the Jewish Federation of MetroWest and supporter of Zhitomar’s activities. Posnock heard stories of how the Jewish community is surviving during these turbulent times.
