In what had the intensity of a championship game, this season opener went down to the wire as Bruriah took its game on the road at Frisch. With the score 20-12 and about 2 minutes left in the 2nd, starter Nikki Bick picked up her 4th foul and sat out until the start of the 4th. The bench rotation of Shira Hagler, Nechama Maryles, Chaya Levin, and Tali Becker played a tremendous role in keeping the lead which swelled to 12 several times. But Bick picked up her 5th foul at about the 5:30 mark in the 4th and starter Tovah Weiskopf followed shortly thereafter. Frisch then had good runs against the depleted Bruriah team. As the lead dwindled to 1, with Ally Orgel at the helm, Bruriah staved off each of Frisch’s rallies. Dani Berlin and Michal Hyman led Bruriah’s fight for every loose ball down the stretch. Berlin’s long 3, and four consecutive foul shots sealed the game for Bruriah.
