Administration, faculty, staff, alumnae and student and parent ambassadors greeted the 500 people who filled the halls of Bruriah for Open House 2018. Prospective students heard from Bruriah’s Principal Rabbi Joseph Oratz, who opened the morning’s program, Elisheva Hirsch (‘19) and Tehilla Finkelstein (‘15). Parents chose from a wide selection of workshops including mathematics and electives, humanities, the sciences, Tanach, and a Q & A with a parent panel. The eighth graders had an exciting morning, which included a chemistry lab demonstration, a Chumash workshop, Zooming In—an innovative history game, a chance to meet with a Bruriah student panel and a creative candy break.
Prospective students and their parents discovered all there is at Bruriah during the fair that showcased academics, guidance, educational services, programming, student council and athletic and academic teams while getting to know each other and the Bruriah faculty over lunch. This was the most informative open house she has ever been at, one parent was overheard saying. Others noted that “The students and faculty are so warm and inviting.” Rabbi Oratz observed that “The energy generated by everyone at the open house, from participants to student and parent ambassadors, to faculty was truly electric.” Parents and prospective students left Bruriah Open House 2018 informed, nurtured, fed and filled with the information they need to make the next big life decision.
