Thousands of marchers and tens of thousands of spectators braved the impending bad weather and filled Manhattan’s 5th Avenue on Sunday, May 31, for the annual Celebrate Israel Parade. This year’s parade theme was “Israel Imagines.”
The theme was presented by the hundreds of organizations, schools and groups marching down the parade route with floats and signs displaying their interpretations of “Israel Imagines” including, Peace, Jewish Unity and Israel’s innovative Hi-Tech discoveries.
Under the leadership of Teaneck New Jersey resident Rabbi Michael S. Miller, CEO of the parade’s sponsoring body the Jewish Community Relations Council of NY, along with his associate Michael Mittelman, the parade has grown to become the largest meeting of people in support of the Nation of Israel in the world.
Many New Jersey Jewish day schools marched in the parade including: The Moriah School, Yeshivat Noam, Yavneh Academy, The Frisch School, Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, Ben Porat Yosef Yeshiva Day School, Ma’ayanot High School, Torah Academy of Bergen County, Bruriah Yeshiva and Mesivta.
