(Courtesy of Chabad of Rutgers) With great joy and celebration, the Chabad House Jewish Student Center at Rutgers University, along with its 10 affiliate Chabad houses serving central and southern New Jersey, will hold the grand commemoration of their 45th national founders anniversary dinner. This event will take place in the grand ballroom of Chabad House, 170 College Ave., New Brunswick on Thursday, Dec. 7 starting at 6 p.m..
The dinner will pay tribute to the following distinguished individuals: Jonathan Kushner, president, KRE Group; Yaakov Kurlantzick, a proud Rutgers Chabad alumnus from the class of 2021; and Dr. Elliot Rudnitzky, M.D.. Anticipating the presence of over 600 community leaders and ardent supporters, Chabad looks forward to coming together to celebrate these exceptional individuals whose contributions have profoundly impacted their community. In addition, the gala dinner will celebrate the “burning of the mortgage” with the support and presence of leading Chabad contributors.
This gala dinner serves as a momentous celebration of the 45th anniversary of Chabad House at Rutgers and the 11th year of operation of the 90,000-square-foot mega complex known as Les Turchin Chabad House. This impressive facility includes housing for 100 students (separate men’s and women’s dorms), the Franco-Ashkenazi Sephardic Synagogue and library, the Shevell Family Ashkenazi Synagogue, student lounges, recreational areas, Gyms, and a 750-person kosher dining hall with commercial kitchens. Chabad House caters to a population of 7,000 Jewish students at Rutgers University, making it the largest Jewish student body in the United States.

Rabbi Yosef Carlebach, director of Chabad House, will provide insights on the past year’s outreach programs and activities as well as the center’s extensive work within Rutgers and the surrounding communities. Attendees at the dinner will receive a special coffee table “45th Anniversary Album” that visually chronicles the history of Chabad House from its humble beginnings in 1978, in a rented room at the Rutgers Student Center, to its current status as the largest Jewish center on any public university campus globally.
