Chabad of West Orange Honors Jewish Veterans and Servicemen

West Orange—This year Chabad of West Orange commemorates Memorial Day with a gala dinner entitled “Stand Strong, Stand Proud—Celebrating our Heroes.” The May 28 event will feature the stories of local Jewish veterans and Eilon Even-Esh, a former Captain in the US Marine Corps and veteran of the IDF (Staff Sergeant) who will receive the Distinguished Service Award.

“I spent six years in the United States Coast Guard,” said Paul Newman. “It is very special and means a lot to me that my synagogue is recognizing Jewish Veterans.”

The dinner will also honor Harry and Abby Vine of North Caldwell and Charles and Dr. Rina Goldberg Hafner of West Orange for their significant contributions to Jewish life, religious institutions across the US (including Chabad) and Israeli organizations. In addition, Efrat Bunker of West Orange will receive the Chesed Award for her industrious volunteer activities.

“Chabad plays a very significant and meaningful role in my life,” said Charles Hafner. “I hope you will join me in supporting their vital work in our community.”

The “Stand Strong, Stand Proud” tribute takes place May 28 at Chabad of West Orange, 401 Pleasant Valley Way, beginning at 7 p.m. Couvert is $180. To make reservations and to place an ad in the dinner journal, please visit www.chabadwestorange.com/rsvp.
