Coach Oswald ‘Oz’ Cross, Named New Coach of TABC Basketball Teams

TABC is excited to announce Coach Oswald ‘Oz’ Cross as the head coach of the Junior Varsity and Varsity Storm basketball teams. Coach Oz has 15 years of coaching experience, winning championships at Our Savior Lutheran High School, serving on Coach Norm Robert’s staff at St. John’s University and coaching the prestigious New York City AAU Team Scan. Through his coaching he has worked with players as successful as Brooklyn Nets draft pick Chris McCullough and McDonald’s All American, Thomas Bryant.

Rabbi Josh Kahn, TABC Associate Principal of Judaic Studies, commented, “Coach Oz’s exceptional basketball resume, combined with his commitment to nurturing each of his players, make him a great fit for TABC.”

Coach Oz explained his coaching philosophy: “Basketball can be an analogy for life. When the players see that hard work pays off, I hope that it translates to academic classes as well. When they’re losing in the fourth quarter and come back and win, I talk to them about challenges in life and how we can always overcome them.”

Coach Oz will be surrounded by an excellent coaching staff: Coach Robert Hoenig, will serve as the assistant coach for the Varsity team and both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will have assistant coaches who are TABC alumni. This year’s Varsity team has an ambitious schedule. Beyond the regular season, they will be participating in four tournaments, including the Shalhevet tournament in Los Angeles. TABC looks forward to a great year of basketball.
