(Courtesy of JFSCNJ) Excitement filled the air at the Y of Union County/JEC, where community members of all ages from Elizabeth, Hillside and Springfield came together to pack special holiday food items for Tomchei Shabbos (Shabbat packages program) Rosh Hashanah packages.

Spearheaded by community leaders Bracha Schechter, Ora Sheinson and Tara Speyer, the program offers bi-monthly Shabbat packages and supplemental food packages during the Jewish holidays under the auspices of the Jewish Family Service of Central NJ Charlotte Shak Kosher Food Pantry.

JFSCNJ is grateful to Benjamin Zainetz, senior manager of food programs for New York’s Met Council, for generously sponsoring many of the food items as part of their High Holiday distribution program.
