Has this ever happened to you?
It is Wednesday afternoon; your Shabbat menu is all planned out. BAM! Your oven breaks. What will you do? You’re having company and now you can’t cook!
Or how about this?
Your son or daughter in college calls midweek to say they are coming home for the weekend and bringing friends! What will you feed them?
Or the classic…
It’s 2 a.m. on Thursday morning and you are panicking because you’re having company for Shabbat and just can’t think of what to make.
Don’t stress. Just call Joe Godin at Ember.
Godin, of Smokey Joe’s kosher barbecue fame, is back with a new and exciting venture. Ember by Smokey Joe is available for all your Shabbat and catering needs. And the best part? You can order in your pjs at 2 a.m. and then go right back to sleep, secure in the knowledge that your meals will be delivered to your door, on time, and the food will be delicious.
Ember, based in Passaic and under the supervision of the Kof-K, has an eclectic menu, which changes every two weeks to accommodate seasonal favorites and includes everything from soup and appetizers to dessert. Craving Smokey Joe’s classics like pulled barbecue brisket, cornbread with onion jam, beef chili, chicken schnitzel and pretzel chicken? Or what about Yerushalmi kugel, cholent, smashed potatoes with beef bacon and smoked barbecue ribs? Ember has those available every week, along with the now-popular Ember classics including grilled herb chicken breast, sliced London broil with a parsley garlic crust, roasted Ora King salmon, sole florentine and more.
Is one of your guests a vegetarian? Ember has side dishes and entrees that won’t make your other guests miss the meat: stuffed vegan delicata squash; white beans and slow roasted tomatoes with garlic, thyme and spinach; miso-glazed maple salmon; and chipotle honey-roasted tri-color carrots are among the tempting and flavorful offerings.
Thinking about dessert? The chocolate molten lava cake is a chocolate eruption of deliciousness; the pareve cheesecake is good enough to serve with your dairy meal on Shavuot; the chocolate chip cookies, brownies and blondies taste like homemade, and the individual chocolate mousse cups are a perfect ending to any meal.
Ember by Smokey Joe delivers to locations including Riverdale, Westchester, Manhattan, Teaneck, Englewood, West Orange and Livingston; if you don’t see your town listed, just ask Godin. Depending on your location, deliveries will either be on Thursday or Friday. Shabbat ordering deadline is Thursday at noon.
