Dr. Philip Green, an interventional cardiologist with a specialty in vascular disease, is pleased to announce the opening of his new location in Elmwood Park. This new location will provide all current and prospective patients the added convenience of seeing the doctor at a state-of-the art office space with a local address. Dr. Green has been practicing at Columbia University Medical Center for over 10 years and has always aspired to offer Bergen County patients the same level of care and treatment he provides for Manhattan clients, a little closer to home.
“There is a degree of expertise and specialization that we offer at Columbia that is unparalleled regionally. This new office affords our patients a comparable level of care, right here in Bergen County,” said Dr. Green. “For some, the idea of going to a doctor in Manhattan can be overwhelming and expensive. Easier access to the best care locally can provide an immeasurable service for many people,” he added.
Dr. Green will be working with Physician’s Assistant Michelle Maier. Together, the medical team treats a wide-range of patients from those who require preventative cardiological care to individuals in need of advanced interventional treatment. In addition, because both Green and Maier specialize in endovascular treatment of cardiovascular disease, they can perform many vascular procedures that have historically been performed through complex surgeries, through far less invasive methods involving only wires and catheters.
Dr. Green lives in Teaneck with his wife and children and is proud to be considered a community doctor. “Growing up, my father was a neighborhood pediatrician and was always taking care of someone in the community. He inspired me to do the same,” recalled Dr. Green. “Taking care of close friends and their family members is often an emotional undertaking but it’s incredibly gratifying and it provides an added level of comfort for patients when they have a personal connection to their doctor.”
Dr. Green is always considerate of his patients concerns and needs. He makes every attempt to provide the best care through the least invasive yet most successful methods. Recently, Dr. Green met with an 80-year-old man who had been hospitalized in Bergen County. The patient was informed by the cardiology staff of this local hospital that he would need bypass surgery. Dr. Green consulted with the patient and was able to avoid open-heart surgery by inserting stents. The procedure was a success and the patient is thankfully doing very well, needless to say, he is most grateful to Dr. Green for providing a far less invasive life-saving alternative.
Columbia is world-renowned for their cardiological care and Dr. Green believes there are a multitude of resources at Columbia which would be extremely helpful to many patients here in Bergen County, who might otherwise not be aware that such medical advancements exist. Through his position at the hospital, he hopes to provide awareness of and facilitate connections with Columbia, while always considering the best interest of his patients.
Dr. Green graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine, Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral and Endovascular Training at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Green is delighted to provide this added convenience of a local office to his Bergen County patients and looks forward to welcoming them all at his New Jersey office. “Our patients who visit our new Elmwood Park office will receive the excellent care they have come to expect from our practice with all the heart and far less hassle of commuting to Manhattan.”
