(Courtesy of Ematai) Ematai hosted along with Riverdale community shuls an enlightening panel discussion on halacha, aging and end-of-life care at the Bayit in Riverdale. The event featured a distinguished panel including Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Brody, executive director of Ematai; Dr. Eliezer Orbenstein, an oncologist; and Dr. Michelle Friedman, a psychiatrist. Together, they addressed complex scenarios from medical, emotional and halachic perspectives. Rabbi Steven Exler, rabbi of the Bayit, opened the evening with an introduction, setting a thoughtful tone, while Bassie Taubes, Ematai’s director of community outreach, moderated the discussion. Participants praised the program for its depth and educational value.
A follow-up workshop on the importance of completing a healthcare proxy and how to have difficult discussions with loved ones is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m..
