Regular Daf Yomi participants interested in a closer look at some of the issues raised in Daf Yomi, as well as those who don’t study Daf Yomi but would like a taste of the topics, will both be well served by a new class offered by Congregation Ahavas Achim in Highland Park.
In the Deep Daf Dive (3D) class, held each Tuesday night at 8:00 pm, Ahavas Achim’s Rabbinic Intern, Rabbi Jed Zaslow, will select a portion of the Daf from the previous seven days, review the text of the Gemara and then plumb its depths in a way that is not possible during daily study. Each 3D class will be independent and self-contained, with topics changing from week to week based on the contents of that week’s seven Gemara pages. It will not be necessary to have learned the Daf to benefit from 3D.
Rabbi Jed Zaslow is currently studying for semicha at Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He studied at Yeshivat Hakotel in Israel and then received a BA in psychology from Yeshiva College, and is earning a master’s in Jewish education from Azrieli Graduate School. Rabbi Zaslow grew up in Philadelphia, has been involved with NCSY there for several years and is a staff member on a variety of NCSY summer programs, most recently the director of education for JOLT Israel. His passions include learning and teaching Torah, Eretz Yisroel and learning about psychology.
