(Courtesy of Netivot) Netivot, the Montessori yeshiva of East Brunswick, New Jersey, announces the opening of its first franchise school in Long Beach, New York, in September of 2025. Netivot Long Beach, an Orthodox, Torah-centered Montessori school, will open initially for ages 18 months through 4 years. Montessori offers a child-centered, multi-modal approach to learning that is not found anywhere in the Five Towns and Barrier Islands. The Montessori yeshiva experience also places an emphasis on social-emotional well-being and growth, a recognized need throughout the world of chinuch today.
Netivot in East Brunswick is a flagship school of the Jewish Montessori movement with over two decades of experience with children from infancy through eighth grade. By aligning with, and learning from, this school, Netivot Long Beach will benefit from their existing curriculum, materials, training and mentorship. So although Netivot Long Beach is technically a new school, it will be an extension of a time-tested, thriving educational system with a proven track record and outstanding results.
Residents of the Beaches community on Long Island currently grapple with the challenge of having to send children to school outside of their immediate neighborhood, and in some cases to far-off communities because of the lack of Torah-based options nearby. Having a local Orthodox preschool opens up a world of possibilities in growing the Beaches community and making it more feasible for young families to put down roots locally.
Recently, Netivot Long Beach enjoyed a fabulous turnout for its first informational event, held at the BACH shul in Long Beach. Over 35 parents from the Beaches community and the surrounding Five Towns area came to hear about the school and learn about Jewish Montessori philosophy and methodology. They heard from Rivky Ross, head of school at Netivot in East Brunswick, as well as Sarah Smith, a Netivot training instructor, about the educational advancements and personalization that await their students next school year.
In attendance at the info session were Rabbi David Fohrman, founder of Aleph Beta, and his wife Reena, who are residents of Woodmere and former Netivot parents. Asked about the creation of the new school, Reena said, “As an educator, Montessori made sense to me in a big way, so much so that we chose to commute our younger children all the way to New Jersey to take advantage of this unique educational style. For us, Netivot is an exquisite synthesis of the rigor of true, authentic Montessori education and overflowing warmth and compassion for the individual child. It is a dream come true to see that a new franchise is opening up right in our neighborhood. What a stroke of remarkable good fortune for our community!”
Netivot Long Beach expects to open with a pre-primary (toddler) program of approximately six to eight students and a primary (3-4 years old) program of approximately eight-10 students. For more information on Netivot Long Beach, please visit www.netivotlongbeach.com
