Each year, over 400 student athletes try out for the NJ JCC Maccabi and mini-Maccabi games. The games are Jewish Olympic style events combining community involvement, teamwork and pride in being Jewish. The JCC Metrowest will be taking athletes who will compete in a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and swimming.
The Maccabi teams will travel together for one week during the summer to compete against athletes from around the world. Dovid Rozehzadeh and Ikey Rozehzadeh of West Orange were selected this year as part of the JCC Metrowest team that will participate in this competition.
The mini-Maccabi games are one day competitions for children ages 9 and 10. Rami Rozehzadeh and Nathan Nussbaum of West Orange were selected to be part of this year’s JCC Metrowest team.
