Frisch JV Girls Take Fourth Place in HS Tournament

The Frisch girls JV basketball team had such an incredible time at the Hyman P. Galbut Girls Basketball Shabbaton in Miami. We were the only JV team to participate in the tournament. The first game we played was against Ida Crown (Chicago), and unfortunately, we faced our first loss of the season. This game put us as the fifth seed. We bounced back and played HAFTR varsity next, the fourth seed, and beat them. We also had two games against Katz Yeshiva (Florida) on Thursday and Friday and won both games. The wins against HAFTR and Katz advanced us to the semi-finals, but first we enjoyed a beautiful Shabbos. On Friday night, we went to Hebrew Academy for dinner and made many new friends from all different teams. After dinner, we enjoyed a kumzitz and listened to divrei Torah by various players on different teams. Next, on Shabbos day, we went to the JCC for davening and icebreakers.

Soon after Shabbos ended, we played against Hustle and Heart in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, we lost the game, and played against YULA in a consolation game for third place. The game was neck-and-neck and we traded baskets the whole time. The game ended 48-46, with YULA securing third, and Frisch JV ending the tournament in fourth place out of 12 varsity teams. Overall, Frisch performed well, and we proved that we can hold our own in a varsity tournament.

More importantly, we spent time bonding and getting to know each other on a deeper level, improving our teamwork on the court and our friendships off the court. Our time in Miami was an unforgettable experience that we will always remember. Thank you to everyone who made the tournament possible and to the Miami community for welcoming us with open arms.
