Frisch Students Become Friendship Circle Camp Counselors

Last week, while public schools had no sessions, Frisch students ran a Friendship Circle camp for families with children with special needs, many of whom attend public schools. This offered the families a safe, fun and meaningful childcare option during the school winter break.

From Monday, December 28, through Thursday, December 31, Frisch hosted the children. Students took shifts throughout week to act as counselors. They helped lead fun projects and activities, such as arts and crafts, and also led outings to places such as Legoland in Westchester.

The camp is part of Frisch’s chesed program, led by Rabbi Joshua Schulman.

“It’s so gratifying to see Frisch students forge bonds with the campers and find such meaning in creating fun for them,” said Rabbi Schulman. “As much as the campers get out of this experience, I think it’s the Frisch students who get even more.”
