Give Your Children/Grandchildren A Gift That They’ll Remember

I was reading the late Arnold Fine’s reminiscences about Chanukah of old and I remembered back in the 1950s when my cousins would give me, the greenhorn fresh off the boat, a silver dollar for Chanukah—I was a millionaire.

Today we seem to splurge on Chanukah gifts.

A special gift that I devised was a one-page letter entitled, “How I Met Your Mother/Grandmother.” Think about it—a precious memory.

Yes of course while remembering the past, I looked to the future and gave my grandchildren Israel Bonds as well.

Wishing everyone a freilechen Chanukah.
