The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize eleven-year-old Eitan Adler as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam student just finished a great season at TABC Junior Hockey, making it to the semifinals for the Flames and winning a first team all-star award for the season. Depending on what the team needed, he played either offense or defense and had a great time with his teammates. In addition to floor hockey, Eitan loves to play ice hockey, baseball and football. He is not afraid to try anything people ask him to do, and last week he spoke for a few minutes to 75 people at PwC, his father’s workplace, about flexibility and work life balance from a son’s perspective; this made his father extremely proud. Eitan loves playing sports with all of his friends as well as watching the Rangers, Giants and Yankees with his father and Sabba (Rabbi Adler). His Zaidy from Rochester is a Jets and Mets fan and he won’t waste his time with those teams.
Great job Eitan, you are well on your way to continuing another link in an amazing mesorah.
Who do you look to as your primary role model?
My father, because I like to watch what he does and follow it. He is smart and very good at sports.
Who is your favorite Athlete?
Until last week it was Odell Beckham Jr because he is fun to watch and makes great plays. I hope he learned his lesson from his suspension.
What is your pregame routine?
Before hockey games I warm up by shooting in my basement.
What is your first sports memory?
[When the] Giants beat the patriots in 2011 to win the super bowl. I was 5.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Scoring a sudden death overtime goal in the semifinals last year at TABC Junior Hockey to send my team to the finals. Sort of like “Matteau Matteau Matteau” from the Rangers in 1994.
When not playing sports, what do you like to do?
I love to play with my younger brother Noam. We like to play sports together but we also like to do other things like riding bikes together.
What is the best thing about being a sports star?
Having fun while playing and setting up my teammates for goals. I loved my coaches, Efraim Tiger and Avraham Gellman, and I always go to watch them play for the TABC Storm.
