Three hundred people joined Heichal HaTorah for their first Siyum on Motzei Shabbos December 7, 2013. Every student in the Yeshiva finished a perek of Gemara – some the third perek of Kidushin, others the fourth perek of Megillah. The special occasion was marked with words of inspiration by Rav Hershel Schachter, Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University. Rav Schachter praised the Yeshiva for making it a priority that each student should master an entire Masechta over the course of the year.
Afterwards, the Talmidim, their families and guests from the broader community participated in a seuda and concert celebrating the occasion. Benny Friedman, the internationally acclaimed singer, sang and danced with the students and many members of the crowd. The concert ended with the entire Yeshiva dancing on stage to the meaningful and exciting song “Yeish Tikvah.” The program also included an address by Rav Stechler, the Rosh Yeshiva of Heichal HaTorah, who told his students how proud he was of their accomplishments over the last three months since Heichal opened its doors. Afterwards, Rav Skulnick, Senior Ram, told his students that this was just the beginning and he was confident that each Talmid could finish every perek in Shas. Heichal HaTorah is a warm, traditional yeshiva environment, inspiring Talmidim to achieve great accomplishments in Torah learning and General Studies.
