(Courtesy of Israel Bonds) On Aug. 8, Israel Bonds Bergen County Women’s Division held a book signing event, co-chaired by Annette Stern and Ellen Sokoloff, bringing like-minded supporters of Israel together from across Bergen County.
The event featured Rabbi David-Seth Kirshner, author of “Streams of Shattered Consciousness: A Chronicle of the First 50 days of the Israel-Hamas War.” In his powerful book, Kirshner shares his deeply personal reflections on the impact of the Hamas attack from the perspective of the Jewish Diaspora. As he put it, “Israel is a country that is perpetually balancing between the realities of Munich and Entebbe — the pains of terror and the experience of miracles in our time. The title, ‘Shattered Streams of Consciousness,’ is appropriate because it denotes the absolute shattering of all the tenets, foundations and assumptions Jews in Israel and the Diaspora were living with for the past generation.”
Proceeds from the book sales will benefit Closter, New Jersey’s Temple Emanu-El Emergency Israel Fund, which was created to support victims of PTSD in Israel. Each attendee left with a signed copy of the book and the event generated over $100,000 indications of interest to purchase Israel bonds.
Development Corporation for Israel (known as Israel Bonds) and its affiliates around the world have generated over $52 billion in worldwide investments since it was founded 73 years ago. Israel bonds are a smart investment with strong rates and are meaningful investments, serving as a symbolic connection with Israel and the people.
