(Courtesy of JEC) On Monday, July 15, the prestigious Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, was abuzz with excitement as a record number 124 golfers gathered for the annual Alex Krause Memorial JEC Golf Outing. The fun filled event raised over $100,000, all of which will benefit the JEC’s scholarship fund.

The day began with a breakfast spread followed by warm-ups at the driving range, a hand-rolled cigar bar and the now famous kiddush club. The weather was perfect; sunny with just the right amount of breeze to make for a beautiful day on the course. The golfers represented the breadth of the JEC’s parent body, business partners, friends and supporters, including over 20 JEC graduates who each received a special edition JEC alumni hat.

Participants were treated to a well manicured, 18-hole championship golf course, an unending supply of ice cold drinks, assorted beers, on-course mixologists and kiddush hole. There were delectable food stations spread around the course that included a variety of barbecue favorites, charcuterie and a pulled beef and potato knish bar.

The day wound down with additional JEC parents and supporters joining for a celebratory cocktail and sushi hour in the country club and was followed by a dinner reception with carving stations, raffle prizes and plenty of stories from the day on the course.

Major event sponsors included PwC, Woodhill Real Estate, PAM Associates, The Rothenberg Law Firm, Stein, Adler, Dabah, Zelkowitz LLP, CFG Merchant Solutions, Morgan Stanley – The Bell Team, Mike’s Bistro, Yarden Wines, Reuben’s Glatt Spot, Northfield Bank, Alera Group, County Draperies, Marcum, and more. With a focus on supporting Israel, golf swag included select bottles of Israeli wine.

Board member and parent, Brian Ness, who co-chaired the event and emceed the program, said, “Today was a wonderful day in so many respects. Alumni, parents, donors, friends and many volunteers all contributed to a fun day of golf, sun, great food and camaraderie benefiting the JEC Scholarship Fund.”

All funds raised through the golf outing will benefit the JEC’s three educational divisions, including the JEC Lower School, High School and Bruriah. The 2024 JEC Golf Outing was a resounding success, breaking previous records of participation and funds raised. Save the date for next year: July 14, 2025!
