The lower school started off their week of Chanukah programming with early childhood and lower school students coming together for a Chanukah chagigah. They were joined by the twelfth grade at RKYHS as the school’s youngest and oldest students sang and danced together. Later in the week, students got in the spirit of Chanukah with a school-wide dreidel tournament. After each class participated in their own games, representatives joined together on the auditorium stage for SUPERMEGADREIDEL, a final tournament that crowned first grader Sam Helperin as lower school champion. Music played a heavy role in the celebration as well. The third grade Chanukah Extravaganza encouraged the whole school to “Light Up the Night” and the monthly Shabbat assembly had a special Chanukah theme with an illuminating Chanukah story from Rabbi Menashe East, rabbi of the Mount Freedom Jewish Center in Randolph.
