Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Holding 4th Annual Yoga on the Lawn

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will host a free, one hour, all-level yoga class on Sunday, July 10, beginning at 9 a.m., on an expansive lawn on the JCC grounds. The class will be led by an expert team of yoga instructors, including MaryBeth Sigler, John Quirk, Robert Hoon and Jill Schwalbe. People of all ages and levels are encouraged to attend this one-of-a-kind fitness event that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and clears the mind.

“Yoga practice is great exercise to improve overall health and an excellent way to stay in shape,” says Hagit Tal, group exercise director at the JCC. “The benefits are enormous and we are so pleased that we have a private and peaceful outdoor setting where we can offer a program like this. Our ongoing hope is to encourage members of our community to engage in more healthful activities, and to educate them about the wide variety of fitness options open to them. It is for this reason that we hold these types of free community events several times a year.”

Yoga on the Lawn will be held in collaboration with Kula for Karma, a nonprofit organization that offers therapeutic yoga, meditation and stress-management programs at no cost to populations in need who face physical and mental health challenges. Contributions to Kula for Karma will be gladly accepted at the event.

Participants should bring a mat, towel and water bottle and wear sunscreen. The program will be held in the Taub Gym in the event of inclement weather. RSVP online at www.jccotp.org/yoga. Even though the class is free, participants must click “Add to Cart” to register. For more details, email Hagit Tal, Group Exercise Director, at [email protected].

The JCC has a skilled, inspirational team of certified fitness instructors teaching yoga, pilates, barre, cycling, zumba and other specialized disciplines. It also offers members a roster of more than 80 free drop in group exercise classes each week, as well as year-round health and wellness programs geared for the entire family in its Russ Berrie Family Health & Recreation Complex. This comprehensive, ultra-modern recreation facility is a place where members can enjoy the benefits of individualized instruction, all the latest in state-of-the-art equipment, and a caring and motivational staff that can assist people at all ages and skill and fitness levels to achieve their fitness goals.
