In the middle of the regular season, the MTA Lions hosted the Kushner Cobras in a highly anticipated matchup. Kushner delivered a dominant performance, securing a 4-1 victory, highlighted by a stellar hat trick from captain James Orbach (‘25).
The two teams met again at MTA for a decisive first-round playoff battle, with fourth-seeded MTA facing off against fifth-seeded Kushner. The game was a tightly contested matchup from start to finish. MTA struck first, with Chaim Solomon (‘25) finding the back of the net to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. However, Kushner responded as captain koby Eisenberg (‘25) evened the score, assisted by assistant captain Jeremy Tarzik (‘26). Later in the game, Eisenberg struck again with his second goal of the night, once again assisted by Tarzik, securing a 2-1 lead for Kushner.
A standout performance by Kushner’s goaltender, Simon Rosenfeld (‘25), proved crucial, as he recorded an impressive 30 saves to preserve the victory. With strong leadership from their coaching, the Cobras now advance to face DRS in the second round of the playoffs.
