Learn About Facebook for Collaborative Family History Research

Please join JGSNJ on Thursday, June 15, at 7:30 as member Beverly Margolies demonstrates the use of Facebook to preserve and organize family history. Margolies will model strategies that worked for her while using Facebook as a research tool, sharing how she used FB to tag and annotate her discoveries, photos, documents, records, news articles and video testimonials. These genealogical materials can attract relatives and other researchers to collaborate on Facebook. Privacy by restrictions will also be discussed. Guests are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

The meeting will be held at the YMCA located at 1 Pike Drive in Wayne, NJ.

Beverly Margolies is a web designer at Bergen Community College where she develops websites and video tutorials and leads workshops for instructors and staff on using technology and social media in new and creative ways. Her parents were Holocaust survivors who survived in hiding in the south of France. She was an active genealogist pre-Google and has been active on Facebook since 2008.
