Lubavitch on the Palisades School in Tenafly hosted a dessert reception on Wednesday, May 1, to welcome incoming Associate Principal Mrs. Jennifer Davis. Mrs. Davis brings her experience to LPS from her position as Assistant Principal of the Donna Klein Jewish Academy in Boca Raton, Florida. As a native New Yorker she is excited to return north to head up the LPS general studies program, which was designed in accordance with the high curriculum standards of the Tenafly Public Schools, one of the best public school districts in the country.
Some of Mrs. Davis’s goals include bringing more technology into the classrooms, utilizing SMARTboards, iPads and computers and the blended learning model to enhance Jewish and secular curricula and programs. Additionally, Mrs. Davis believes that it is fundamentally important to teach Jewish students about Jewish heroes in Jewish history, and that by doing so educators can help children to develop character, social skills and Jewish pride. In her address to parents and prospective parents, Mrs. Davis highlighted the primary role of the school: “We are making scholars, but we are making scholars that are mensches.”
Opening 18 years ago as a preschool, Lubavitch on the Palisades has expanded into the elementary school grades and will have classes for children up to 4th grade for the 2013/2014 school year. The school intends to graduate it first 8th grade class in June, 2018.
Attendees at the dessert reception were invited to tour the newly expanded 18,000 square foot Elementary School wing that consists of new classrooms, library, computer lab and multipurpose room. For more information please contact Lubavitch on the Palisades, (201) 871-1152 ext. 505.
