(Ma’ayanot) The Ma’ayanot fall soccer team has been in existence for about five years. The team started out playing mostly public schools who practice starting in August and five days a week. Thankfully other yeshiva high schools have been forming teams and the Rapids were able to play against them during the season. The Rapids had some big games against Frisch and Kushner, as well as Golda Ochs. Parents came out to support the team in the September heat and the freezing cold of late November. This final game against SAR was a great way to wrap up the season with a big win.
Ma’ayanot saw goals from senior captain Joey Friedman, and juniors Aliza Guzman and Mia Polonetsky knocked in two goals each. Junior Meital Rimberg, who we predict will be a marked player in the spring, had three goals. The final score was 8-0. Rimberg has averaged about three goals a game throughout the season. Freshman goalie Chana Isaacs had an amazing game with 19 saves. Assists from senior Yael Lemonik, juniors Sorah Fisher, Rimberg, Bella Einhorn and sophomore Ayelet Sassoon added to the win. Freshmen Sterna Levine, Adi Hirschkorn and Hannah Tollinsky kept the intensity level up against the Sting. Senior Yaffa Dimenstein came out aggressively leading the Rapids. Sophomores Tiferet Ross and Irene Lipstein were relentless in attacking the ball in head to head matchups. Captains Aleeza Goldberg and Naama Davidovics led the team on defense in the back.
To cap off the season, the Rapids played at Redbull Arena against Naaleh in front of tons of supporting fans. Coaches Marisol and Ryan were very proud of the teams’ accomplishments and growth and look forward to next year. The Rapids finished with 6 wins, 0 losses, and 2 ties. Go Rapids!
