Six Ma’ayanot students attended AIPAC’s prestigious Schusterman High School Summit this week, accompanied by Mrs. Yael Weil. The summit is an intense three-day seminar where students are educated in Israel’s history and the most important issues that the country faces today. Students are trained to be advocates for the American-Israel relationship. The program culminated with a lobbying trip to the Congressional office of NJ Representative Thomas MacArthur, where students discussed the importance of reauthorizing the Iran Sanctions Act, opposing one-sided UN Security Council resolutions and supporting security assistance to Israel. More than 500 participants from all over the country and from all different backgrounds attended. A highlight of the trip was a presentation by Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, who addressed the group on why Israel plays such a central role for the Jews and for the world.
