Blazing the way through both Torah and Maddah competitions this week, the MDS Blazers traveled to other Jewish day schools in the area for both a Torah Bowl Meet and for the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education’s (CIJE) Robotics Tournament. On Monday and Wednesday respectively, MDS students put on their thinking caps to participate in these co-curricular activities and meet with peers in other yeshivot.
On Monday, the Torah Bowl Blazers headed to Ramaz to show their mastery of the Chumash text and Rashi’s commentary on Parshat Beshalach. The Blazer Bowlers enjoyed the Torah learning they did to prepare as well as the competition itself.
On Wednesday, the Lower School and Middle School Robotics teams, with faculty advisor Aliza Rubin, traveled to HAFTR Middle School to compete in the CIJE Robotics Tournament with approximately 600 students spanning all grades from Jewish day schools around the country. The BlazerBots were built, coded and controlled by MDS students. The sheer joy seen on the students’ faces, when controlling robots they designed and built, was truly delightful. This was their first CIJE Tournament and they are already looking forward to the next one!
