Shabbat April 5-6, marked the third and final in-Shabbat for MTA talmidim in Rabbi Mendelson’s junior shiur. Rabbi Mendelson hosts in-Shabbotot for his talmidim before every major bechina to provide them with the opportunity to bond together as a shiur and study as a group with guidance from their rebbe. In preparation for their bechina on the beginning of the sixth perek of Bava Kamma, the entire shiur spent Shabbat together in yeshiva. The in-Shabbat kicked off with Mishmar Madness on Thursday night, which set the tone for the entire Shabbat. After a beautiful Carlebach kabbalat Shabbat and seudah, talmidim began their chazara in YU’s Glueck Beis Medrash. Chevrutahs learned together, while Rabbi Mendelson served as their shoel umeishiv. At 11:00 p.m., chazara was put on hold for a beautiful tish. With inspiring singing and a dvar Torah from Rabbi Mendelson, everyone felt uplifted and many talmidim returned to the beit midrash to continue their chazara into the early morning hours. The intense chazara continued throughout the entire Shabbat, balanced by lively seudahs, zemiros and divrei Torah from talmidim and rebbeim, including YU Rosh Yeshiva Rav Yitzchok Cohen, who spoke about the importance of talmud Torah. Talmidim spent all afternoon in the beit midrash, where they enhanced their understanding of all that they had learned in shiur over the past few months. Shabbat came to a close with a wonderful seuda shelishit, featuring divrei chizuk from Rabbi Neuburger. The entire shiur had an amazing Shabbat and the talmidim are truly grateful for the opportunity to spend time with each other and their rebbe in yeshiva.
