Passaic Screening This Sunday of OHEL’s Film Rising from Divorce

Following the hundreds who have attended screenings in New York; Florida and Teaneck, NJ, OHEL will be providing a second New Jersey screening of the groundbreaking film Rising from Divorce this Sunday at 8 p.m. in Passaic at Ahavas Israel Synagogue.

Through the film, which is for all members of the community, OHEL aims to better educate the community about the impact of divorce, and the specific roles that the wider community, rabbonim, community leaders and educators can play to help ensure that both parents of divorce and children of divorce can thrive.

The first New Jersey screening was at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun and drew a large crowd of concerned community members and those directly affected by divorce.

Derek Saker, OHEL’s Director of Communications, commented that “over 70 percent of the attendees at our screenings and accompanying panel discussions have been non-divorcees, which is exactly our objective. The film is awakening to all in the community where our number one focus is children of divorce.”

The accompanying panel in Passaic will include Rabbi Ron Yitzchok Eisenman, Rav of Ahavas Israel; Norman Blumenthal, PhD, the Zachter Family Chair in Trauma and Crisis Counseling at OHEL and Director of the OHEL Miriam Center for Trauma, Bereavement and Crisis Response; Dr. Ziporah Torbiner, Coordinator of OHEL Northern New Jersey Regional Family Center and David Mandel, CEO of OHEL, who will serve as moderator.

OHEL has been inundated with community-wide requests for film showings, and a number of new screenings have been in announced in New York, and across the US from Los Angeles to Chicago.
