On Thanksgiving morning, November 24, at 9:30 a.m., at Congregation Beth Aaron, the Men’s Club will present Rabbi Danny Senter on “Our Meat, It’s Not All in Vein — From Field to Table: The Koshering Journey of our Meat.” Rabbi Senter is the Kashrut Administrator at the KOF-K, located in Teaneck.
Born in North Bergen, New Jersey, Rabbi Daniel Senter descends from a prominent Rabbinic family with roots in the state that began at the turn of the century. Following the family tradition, he was ordained as a rabbi and today serves as Chief Operating Officer of KOF-K Kosher Supervision, a leading Kosher certification agency based in Teaneck, with offices and representatives throughout the world. Rabbi Senter has always been fascinated by the world around him and how things work. He considers himself a bit of a Kol Bo (Renaissance man). During his years in yeshiva, he received certification from the Chief Rabbi of Israel in Milah and Shechita. Some of his other areas of expertise include clock making, automobile restoration, life-guarding, magic, Torah-scroll restoration, emergency medical certification, foraging, beekeeping, kashering and traibering (the procedure of removing the sciatic nerve, as well as certain forbidden blood vessels and fats, from the hindquarters of a slaughtered animal), beer brewing and homesteading. He always has been involved in community work. He served on the board of the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey and was a member of both the Greenway Advisory Board and the Historic Preservation Committee of the Township of Teaneck. As an Emergency Medical Technician, he has served as President of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Chief of the Bogota First Aid Squad. Rabbi Senter resides in Teaneck, New Jersey, and Woodridge, New Yorl, with his wife, 5 children, 4 goats, a dozen chickens and a few million bees.
