On Monday, July 8, the Young Israel of Fort Lee will host Rabbi Dovid Bashevkin for their ever-popular monthly Lunch and Learn at noon. Rabbi Bashevkin is the director of education for NCSY, the youth movement of the OU. His intriguing topic will be “Do Jews Believe in Original Sin?”
Bashevkin is an instructor at Yeshiva University, teaching courses on public policy, religious crisis and rabbinic thought. Rabbi Bashevkin received semicha from YU’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary as well as a master’s degree at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies focusing on the thought of Rabbi Zadok of Lublin.
He is currently pursuing a doctorate on crisis management at the Milano School of International Affairs. Lunch will be served for a nominal fee.
In August, the Lunch and Learn will host the world-renowned speaker Rabbi Yakov Horowitz, who will be interviewed on topics of drug abuse, LBGTQ and at-risk teens in the Orthodox community.
