RKYHS was honored to welcome Malcolm Hoenlein this Yom Yerushalayim. Hoenlein is the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations among other notable positions. Hoenlein led an engaging and informative talk about the impact of Covid-19 on the Jewish community and lessons we can draw from it in connection to Yerushalayim. Hoenlein discussed the strengthening and emboldening of the American Jewish Community, and that living in this time of Covid-19 reminds us of the importance of achdut and unity and community and not to take family, friends and institutions in our community for granted. He linked it to also often taking Jerusalem and Israel for granted too. He described his trip to Jerusalem pre-1967 and told students that they have to look back to 1967 and before, lest we forget the privilege we have to be able to go to the kotel and Jerusalem freely now.
