Each year, Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva’s eighth grade boys meet the Jewish War Veterans at the Highland Park Veteran’s Memorial on Veteran’s Day. This year’s eighth grade boys spoke with the veterans and thanked them for their service. They recited tehillim for American troops serving worldwide, and Rabbi Israel Rivkin recited kaddish in memory of the veterans who served our country in the past. Paying tribute to those who serve our country is an important part of teaching our students gratitude.
The Peace of Mind organization visited RPRY on Thursday, November 10, with soldiers from the IDF. Peace of Mind emotionally rehabilitates soldiers from high combat units as they re-enter civilian life. The soldiers were enthusiastically welcomed to RPRY; music played and students danced in the cordoned-off street, waving welcome posters and Israeli flags. The soldiers visited classrooms, spoke at the school assembly and participated in a friendly basketball game against the middle school boys’ team. The Peace of Mind visit is part of RPRY’s ongoing dedication to teach students love for the land of Israel and the Jewish people. In addition, the importance of emotional and mental health is highlighted throughout the visit.
Learn more about RPRY’s excellent education and warm environment at its upcoming open house, Tuesday, November 29, from 7-9pm. RSVP at www.rpry.org.
