Coming off their first place clinching game, the undefeated SAR Sting varsity girls basketball team took the court against the Bruriah Lightning around 8 p.m., after the JV game. Being 10-0, the ladies stepped onto the court confidently, ready to win. The first quarter was relatively low scoring, and the game stayed close throughout, ultimately ending with a Sting victory 49-40.
The Sting were led to their victory by the 10th grade machine, Samantha Horowitz whose drop step layup is practically lights out. Despite the Lightning’s attempts, they were simply unable to shut her down. On the other side, Bruriah was dependent on their three point shooters for the bulk of their points, as the Sting defense was too tough for them to break through.
On February 6, the Lady Sting will have their final game of the season against the Frisch Cougars. This game will also be SAR’s homecoming game, otherwise known as Sting Night Live, with the boys varsity game following the girls, and the varsity girls will be looking to close out their season with a perfect record of 12-0.
Let’s go Sting!
