On Wednesday, October 17, the 10th graders at SAR High School attended the memorial service and rally marking the shloshim of the tragic murder of SAR Academy alumnus Ari Fuld, H”YD. The rally, initiated and organized by members of the Riverdale Jewish community, took place outside of the Israeli consulate in Manhattan.

The Consul General of Israel in New York, Dani Dayan, opened the ceremony. Additional speakers included Rabbi Avi Weiss and SAR Academy Principal Rabbi Binyamin Krauss. Speeches focused on Ari’s love of the land and people of Israel, his passion for Israel and his heroic actions in his final moments. Students recited tehillim, sang along with David Glazer and heard inspirational words from Rabbi Yonah Fuld, former principal of SAR Academy. Attendance at the memorial numbered in the hundreds and included students from many local yeshivot.
