Shomer Shabbat Cub Scout Pack 613 Moves to Teaneck

(Courtesy of Cub Scouts) When a shul finds a new home, the members march joyously with their Torahs. Last Sunday, Cub Scout Pack 613 proudly carried its American and Israeli flags to their new home in the Jewish Center of Teaneck. The pack owes its existence to Fair Lawn’s Congregation Ahavat Achim, which hosted it for the past nine years.

Rabbi Daniel Fridman, on behalf of the Jewish Center, proclaimed: “We are extremely proud that the Cub Scouts are now an intrinsic part of our kehillah, joining the Boy Scouts. We deeply value the scouts as wholesome vehicles for our youth to cultivate the cherished middot to which we all aspire, and which are at the core of our collective avodat Hashem: responsibility, a sense of civic duty, cultivation of critical life skills, all imparted through the lens of Torah, and in an engaging and thoroughly enjoyable manner.”

Already 40 kids strong, the pack is now open to new members K-fourth grade with its Take-A-Look program, where scouts and their parents can try the month of January free. The 2019 Cub Scout program will race Pinewood Derby Cars, build Space Derby Rockets, visit the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance corps, visit CareOne in their Purim costumes, hike, camp and much more.
