The Law Offices of Davis, Saperstein and Salomon, PC (DSS) have a long history and a strong connection to Teaneck. The Jewish Link asked one of the founding partners, Garry Salomon, what inspired Teaneck Strong Day. “Because of all the great things the people of Teaneck have done for our firm; we decided that we wanted to give back to the community—not just for the firm, but the entire community of first responders, municipal workers, merchants and clergy.”
Salomon continued, “They are the glue that holds us together. The strength of our municipal employees, ambulance volunteers and citizens is what makes Teaneck strong. We will need more strength to safely navigate through the dark winter months,” explains Salomon. “Between the T-shirts, masks and everyone’s social media participation, I am confident that we will get there, and we are proud to help Teaneck along.”
Hence was born “Teaneck Strong Day,” slated for the first day of winter, December 21, 2020.
But don’t wait until December 21 to display or get your swag! DSS has spent the last several weeks distributing shirts and masks to firefighters, police, ambulance corps volunteers, merchants and citizens. Not only are there a website, an email and a phone number for requesting masks and shirts; but they are also delivered! Free Teaneck spirit, with free delivery! Doesn’t get much better than that, and DSS wants as much visibility as possible to further lift the spirit of the community before, on and going forward from Teaneck Strong Day this coming Monday, December 21.
Asked what makes Teaneck such a receptive community for a campaign like Teaneck Strong Day, Garry Salomon responds that, “With all of the diverse groups and interests, one thing that can bring us together is our common desire to be done with this (pandemic.) Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and atheists all want this virus in our past. That’s our common bond.”
So how does DSS want people to show their solidarity about Teaneck Strong? “Wear the T-shirts and masks,” and especially on December 21! Says Salomon, their slogan is, “We’re here for you.” The tagline on the rear panel of the shirts reads: “Thriving as a Community, Through Strength, Compassion and Unity.”
Also appearing on the rear panel of the shirt are the logos of the Teaneck Strong Day sponsors, and they are among Teaneck’s most respected organizations: the Teaneck Police and Fire Departments, Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Teaneck International Film Festival, Rotary Club of Teaneck, Teaneck Bar Association and the Teaneck Chamber of Commerce. Notes Garry Salomon, “Few communities outside of the big cities can boast a major hospital, a university and a film festival.”
That’s not all, however: DSS hopes everyone will spread the word with hashtag #TeaneckStrong on Instagram, Facebook and other social media. Talk it up with your friends, neighbors, co-workers, classmates—everyone.
Eli Katz, deputy mayor of Teaneck, weighs in with his support and encouragement, “As we approach—hopefully—the light at the end of the tunnel of this pandemic, it’s good to see community organizations doing what they can to help lift the spirit of every resident of Teaneck during this challenging time.”
Davis, Saperstein and Salomon expressed the hope that as we enter the doldrums of winter, wearing the masks and shirts will help to give people the strength to see this pandemic through.
With the knowledge that so many people will be sharing and wearing the same mask and T-shirt for a common cause, DSS wants to instill a sense of strength and light as a community. “We really need that now more than ever,” said Salomon.
