‘Siblings Are Like Permanent Playdates You Can’t Send Home’

Dear Shayna B.,

First of all, your column in The Jewish Link is what makes my Shabbatot each and every week! My problem is that I started teasing my siblings, and I always feel SO BAD after! My mom is starting to take away my screen privileges, which deeply upsets me! PLEASE HELP ME!

From,

Teasing Tanya

Dear Teasing Tanya,

Look at your siblings’ good traits. Maybe you’ll give compliments instead of insults afterwards.

Start a chart. It may be childish, but only your family will know about it. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Anyway, I think most of us can relate. Also maybe spend more time with your siblings. You may only see the negative side of the situation. They might be really fun to hang out with sometimes.

When you insult them you insult them for doing something wrong. Maybe you need to see them doing something right. Then again, maybe you insult them because you see them all day everyday. But either way, remember that family is forever.

Best of luck,

Shayna B.
