(Courtesy of Something Borrowed) Something Borrowed, the Teaneck gown gemach, is thrilled to announce that we have celebrated our one year anniversary of serving the community. We have been privileged to loan out more than 500 gowns, including bridal party dresses, bat mitzvah dresses, flower girl dresses, cocktail dresses, and bridal gowns. Our collection boasts over 200 bridal party gowns, more than 300 gowns for girls, 100 cocktail dresses, and over 40 white wedding gowns. We have also begun our collection of outfits and suits for babies and toddler boys.
In November 2023, with the generous offer to use a home in the heart of New Milford, New Jersey the gemach opened its doors. After outgrowing that space, we moved to our current location, graciously provided by Ohel and The Bayit, at 1351 Sussex Road. Due to our tremendous success and ever-growing inventory, we are again seeking a larger space. We are looking for an empty house, storefront or large basement with a separate entrance to house our collection. If you have a lead or space to donate, please reach out to Aviva at (201) 923-7570.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to make this gemach a reality and continue to help it run: board members Robin Bin-Nun, Aviva Breda, Becky Katz, Bassy Lewis, Debra Okun, Ora Rapfogel, Ali Rosenthal, Rivki Rosenthal, Shira Yablok, and Elana Zachter. Without them, this endeavor would not have been possible. We are also extremely grateful to our dedicated volunteers who make themselves available during our open hours to help our clients find their perfect gowns: Shoshana Dresdner, Chana Dina Goldblatt, Leah Gottlieb, Rachel Mandel, Jennie Mohl, Jennifer Weiderkehr, Shayna Sklar, Lisa Kroopnick, and Aliza Adler.
We are always accepting more gowns and would love to help you clear out some space in your closet while performing a mitzvah. If you’d like to contribute to our gemach, you can drop off gowns and dresses at two convenient locations. Porch drop-off is available at any time:
46 Sylvan Ave, Bergenfield — Home of Debra Okun
302 Maitland Ave, Teaneck — Home of Aviva Breda
