The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 11-year-old Tova Teichman as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat He’Atid sixth grader improved in all facets of the game in her two weeks at the CMEK August post-season camp. When asked about Teichman, the CMEK director told the JLNJ, “She demonstrated the ability to apply various new skills into game situations. Her ball-handling skills, in particular, really developed. Overall, she was an outstanding all-around leader and camper.”
Tova, congratulations on a great session at CMEK camp. Who is your role model and why?
My dad, because he helps coach me in basketball.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is basketball.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
We were playing a five on five in CMEK, and I was the high scorer for my team.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Stephen Curry, because he is the best on the Warriors and he’s nice on and off the court.
What is your pregame routine, if you have one?
I stretch, and then I do a few drills.
What is your earliest sport memory?
When I made my school team.
What is your favorite sports memory?
When I went to my first Mets game, and they won.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the field?
Watch TV, hang out with family and friends and dance.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
That I get to be in The Jewish Link.
