Teaneck TBO 10U Pitches Combined No Hitter in 26-0 Victory

Strong pitching and defense set the tone in Teaneck TBO 10U’s fourth game of the Northeast Bergen All-Stars (NEBAS) season. Starting pitcher Avi Pasternak, and relief pitchers David Wilbur and Caleb Block, combined for a four-inning mercy rule shortened no-hit 26-0 victory. Riding the momentum provided by amazing pitching and defense, all of Teaneck’s batters reached base as the team improved their record to 4-0.

Teaneck led the game off with two runs in the top of the first inning off of a two-run RBI double by Pasternak that scored Shai Zaretsky and Wilbur. The game looked like it was going to be a barn burner as the first River Edge batter hit a deep fly ball to left field, but Aiden Merkin made a great catch to stun the River Edge fans. That would be the longest hit ball of the day for River Edge as Teaneck pitching combined for seven strikeouts and only four walks in the no hitter, and the defense took over. The Web Gems continued as shortstop Ezra Block flashed the leather to close the first inning, as he fielded a hard-hit ground ball to throw out a runner at first. Catcher Benjamin Chetrit also shut down a River Edge stolen base attempt in the third inning with a perfect throw to third baseman Pasternak who applied the tag.

Noam Rabbani led Teaneck batters with five RBIs, going 3-3 at the plate including a second inning inside-the-park grand slam. Teaneck scored nine runs in the second inning with an RBI single and an RBI double by Nate Tenzer, an RBI single by Zaretsky and a David Siev steal of home plate. Teaneck added seven runs in the third inning with a Wilbur RBI double, a Chetrit RBI single and a number of bases-loaded walks. Teaneck finished the scoring with eight more runs in the fourth inning highlighted by RBI singles by Tenzer, Zaretsky and Noam Rabbani; RBI doubles by Siev and Elan Rabbani; and a Chetrit RBI fielder’s choice.

Teaneck hosts undefeated Carlstadt on October 9, at 9 a.m. at Phelps Park and would love to have you come out to cheer them on!
