Rabbi Yosef Chaimov, father of Aharon Chaimov, HY”D, was hosted by Poppy’s restaurant in Teaneck for a community breakfast this past week. On Oct. 7, Aharon, a 25-year-old father of two, was working for Magen David Adom (MDA), responding to the emergency in his hometown of Ofakim, when he became one of the first casualties killed by Hamas terrorists.

Rabbi Chaimov recently finished shloshim and Bergen County residents had the opportunity to do the mitzvah of nichum aveilim (comforting mourners) when he visited the community. Rabbi Chaimov is the rabbi of a shul in Ofakim, where — in addition to losing his son — five members of his shul were killed in the Oct. 7 massacre. Rabbi Chaimov gave an update on the current status of Ofakim and thanked the Bergen County community for their outpouring of support for MDA with bergendonate.com to honor the memory of his son.
