(Courtesy of Yad Leah) For those who worry that Generation Z is too self-absorbed, meet Naami Tziyona Bohm from East Brunswick, who’s taking her generation’s propensity for activism and social issues to a new level.

When Bohm, a senior at Bruriah, was asked to choose something in exchange for the Afikomen last Pesach, she thought to herself, “There isn’t anything I need, so instead of asking for something for myself, I asked to do something for others.”

As a freshman at Bruriah, she had come with her grade to volunteer at Yad Leah. “I remembered my school trip to Yad Leah, and it was an incredible experience doing something so hands-on for Israel! So, I asked my family if we could schedule a trip there.”

Bohm’s family fulfilled that gift this past Sunday by attending Yad Leah’s “President’s Day Pack for Israel Experience.” She brought her immediate family from East Brunswick and her cousins from New Rochelle to the 15,000-square-foot Yad Leah visitor center in Passaic.

“This time around, I toured the warehouse and saw how expansive it is. The mounds of donation bags are truly amazing! I loved being able to see how many people come together for this cause and having the opportunity to volunteer my time to help Am Yisrael,” said Bohm.

An enthusiastic volunteer.
