The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Ethan Lefkovits as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The rising sixth grader at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, was the leading scorer for his AAU CMEK team and his entire age group, last year. He averaged 34 points during the final four games of the season. In the championship game against a very athletic team one grade older, Ethan poured in 36 which included nine clutch 3-pointers. Coach Chad Mekles of CMEK told The Jewish Link, “As a play-making guard, he demonstrated great poise under-pressure and also made great passes (he either scored or assisted on nearly every basket). While coaching him this year, we were undefeated, 20-0, with two championships (winter and spring). Ethan backed up his incredible league play by earning the MVP of the CMEK pre-season basketball camp. For his efforts, he was awarded a signed basketball by Portland Trail Blazers guard, and former NCAA champion from Duke, Justise Winslow.”
