The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Jonas Holland as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The eighth grader at Rabbi Pesach Raymond Yeshiva (RPRY), led the RPRY basketball team as a sixth and seventh grader, and was looking forward to another solid season this year. RPRY basketball coach Sam Berlin coached Holland for two seasons. When asked about Holland, Coach Berlin told The Jewish Link, “ Jonas is a hard worker, always looking to improve. He is a natural leader who sets a great example for his teammates.”
Jonas, congratulations on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Who is your role model and why?
My dad because he taught me all the sports I play today.
What is your favorite sport and why?
Basketball. It’s the sport that I enjoy and play the most.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Scoring 24 points in one game including six 3-pointers.
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
Lamar Jackson because I am a big Baltimore Ravens fan.
What is your earliest sports memory?
Throwing around a frisbee with my dad.
What is your favorite sports memory?
When the Ravens won the Super Bowl vs. the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.
What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?
Hang out with my friends or play video games.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
Being good at the game you love to play.
